Let’s implement DNS to learn history!


  • DNS is specified in 266 RFCs!
  • It was created at a time when only universities and large corporations had access to the network, so implicit trust was (reasonably) expected.
  • Even things like DNSSEC are starting to feel outdated despite being released relatively recently (2005).
  • This system predates Unicode, so concerns like case-insensitive URLs aren’t always handled well.
